DMU is the leading post-1992 University for research in the UK with more income received for research than any other 'new' university. The Rapid Prototyping & Manufacturing Group, within the Faculty of Technology, undertakes groundbreaking  research in the field of  product development and production, in particular the development and application of novel Additive Manufacturing technologies.

Quartz-TSL - project coordinator & end user of rigid PCBs

Quartz tsl was formed in 1987 and has a wealth of experience in the design, manufacture and assembly of printed circuit boards - serving the UK and European electronic sectors including telecommunications, broadcasting, gas and oil industries, data processing, transport and aerospace.

Quartz tsl's initial core business was as a Printed circuit board manufacturer. However over the years Quartz has seen a need to amalgamate the processes of PCB manufacture and electronic component assembly. Both conventional and surface mount with an additional need for cabling and wiring . By offering these joint services Quartz has eliminated many manufacturing problems and pitfalls for its clients.

Flex-Ability - end user of flexible PCBs

Established in 1987, Flex-Ability has 19 years experience manufacturing Flex, Flex Rigid and single and double sided rigid PCBs. The company now occupies a 40,000 square foot manufacturing facility from which our team provides world class expertise in flexible and flex-rigid circuit design and manufacture across a broad base of technologies. Flex-Ability has a leading role in managing original turnkey projects for its customers and has applied expertise within the demanding military, medical, aerospace and telecoms industries.

MTT (formerly MCP Tooling Technologies Ltd) has been involved in the design and manufacture of production equipment for over 50 years. The company produces a range of fully automated process equipment, including vacuum casting units for the manufacture of both plastic and metal parts, injection moulding equipment, compact blow moulding units, proprietary rapid tooling methods/materials and more recently Selective Laser Melting equipment (SLM) for the direct production of metal parts.
